Blues vocalist and entertainer Shonka Dukureh was found dead in her Nashville condo Thursday, the Metro Nashville Police Department said.

Dukureh, 44, was found in the room of the loft she imparted to her two youngsters, police said. 

The entertainer as of late featured as Big Mama Thornton in the film "Elvis." 

One of Dukureh's kids thought that she is lethargic and went to a neighbor's condo for help, as indicated by police. The neighbor called 911 at 9:27 a.m., police said.

Police said they don't smell a rat in her demise. The clinical inspector is presently 

attempting to distinguish the reason for death, a MNPD representative said.

Dukureh — a Charlotte, North Carolina local and Nashville occupant — moved on from Fisk University with a four year college education in theater.
